Port Cities, part of the Liverpool Arab Arts Festival, is a multidisciplinary exhibition that explores the dynamic relationships between port cities across the Arab world and beyond. This exhibition delves into themes of migration, identity, and cultural memory, examining how the histories and movements of people through port cities shape collective narratives. By focusing on the interplay between global trade routes, migration patterns, and cultural exchange, Port Cities tells the stories of people who live, work, and migrate through these liminal spaces—both past and present.

Featuring four artists from Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, and Morocco, the exhibition takes an immersive, cross-cultural approach to understanding how port cities serve as gateways for both connection and displacement. Through interactive installations, multimedia works, and visual storytelling, the exhibition engages audiences with the lived experiences of those affected by transnational movements, trade, and shifting identities.
After premiering in Liverpool, the Port Cities exhibition will tour internationally to Tripoli, Lebanon; Alexandria, Egypt; Rabat, Morocco; and Tunis, Tunisia throughout 2024.
